Craft your Duan Wu Fortune with Pride! π
Celebrating two important moments in June: Duanwu Festival and Pride Month π
Join us for a Colourful Wrist Cord Craft Workshop, where we will weave colourful δΊε½©η»³ bracelets together in celebration of both cultural tradition and queer joy.
In traditional Chinese culture, colourful cords are worn during the Duanwu season as a symbol of protection, peace, luck and wellbeing. The festival takes place during the transition into summer, historically associated with seasonal illness and insects, and people would wear these colourful threads as a blessing for safety and good fortune. This June, we want to reimagine the tradition through the colours of Pride, turning the δΊε½©η»³ into something that not only celebrates traidition, but also identity, community, visibility and care.
During this workshop, you will:
- learn about the stories and cultural meanings behind Duanwu Festival
- create your own rainbow-inspired δΊε½©η»³ bracelet
- spend a slow and creative evening with others before Pride celebrations begin
